Dr. Christina M. Rost is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Virginia Tech. Prior to joining VT, Dr. Rost was an Assistant Professor of Physics at James Madison University. She earned her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2016, following a B.S. and an M.S. in Physics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Rost's research focuses on understanding atomic-level disorder in materials and its impact on properties, using advanced spectroscopic techniques, such as X-ray absorption and emission spectroscopy, alongside a suite of complementary characterization techniques. When not in the lab or teaching, Dr. Rost enjoys DIY projects, gaming, and traveling.
